The scholarly journal Aportes de la Comunicación y la Cultura was born in 1993. Professor Ingrid Steinbach Méndez, Director of the Journal and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Communication of the Private University of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, UPSA led this initiative. It was published annually, with the exception of one or two years that were not published in a timely manner. From 2015, in pursuit of achieving indexation in Scielo Bolivia, it was followed the formal requirements demanded by that electronic network. Additionally and among other norms, two issues were published per year. In 2018, we celebrated our 25 years of life by publishing the 25th issue of the journal.  

Since its launch, the purpose of the journal was to produce and spread knowledge of the communicational and cultural reality of the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Initially, the University started publishing essays and articles that were written by professors and experts in the field of communication and other social and humanistic disciplines, as well as research and thesis carried out by communications undergraduate students. Since 2015, the journal opened its doors to contributions from national and foreign researchers. Additionally to that, it was reinforced the presence of other social and humanistic areas.

The journal Aportes de la Comunicación y la Cultura has been indexed in Bolivian Journals for several years and since 2019. Currently, it is indexed in the Scielo -Bolivia online electronic network.

Authors of the different articles yield their property rights to Ciencia y Cultura only until the article is published in our periodical. Afterwards, they can use their work in new editions or in other means of dissemination.
