Abstract
PEREIRA MORATO, René and LOPEZ FERNANDEZ, Daniel Hernando. DEMOGRAPHIC DIMENSIONS IN BOLIVIA AGING. Temas Sociales [online]. 2016, n.39, pp.83-113. ISSN 0040-2915.
The aging process in Bolivia increases in absolute and relative volumes, but specifically in urban areas and departments of the central axis, La Paz, Cochabamba and Santa. The growth rate of the population aged 60 and over is much faster than in the younger ages and even in the population of working age. Life expectancy in Bolivia is the lowest in South America which shows that the average life is given in context with poor living conditions and health. It was found that the sending areas of mainly young people in rural areas of the Bolivian highlands involve high levels of aging that affects specific problems related to food production and productivity. The demographic dimensions should take into account the planning of actions on social security and health.
Keywords : aging; accelerated growth; lower life expectancy.
