Abstract

PAZ GONZALES, Eduardo. Class differences between employers: evidence from the 2019 Household survey. Temas Sociales [online]. 2023, n.52, pp.9-29.  Epub May 31, 2023. ISSN 0040-2915.  https://doi.org/10.53287/eqzf7633tj41w.

This work seeks to track the structural differences among the people who act as employers in the labor market. Even if the staggering differences between the owner of a big industrial enterprise and the proprietor of a small sweatshop tell us that most probably they do not belong in the same class, it is harder to establish where the threshold it’s to be drawn. Using the 2019 household survey this work shows some characteristics that allow us to differentiate those actors we can properly call capitalist and those that are best described as part of a simple commodity production.

Keywords : Social classes; labor market; labor force; household survey INE; entrepreneurial petty bourgeoise..
