Abstract

Objective: To determine frequency of the use of the episiotomia in the service of Obstetrics of the Infantile Maternal Hospital of the National Box of Health city of La Paz, in the second semester of 2009. Design methodological Study type: I study observational, I design traverse, descriptive. Study area: Service of Obstetrics of the Infantile Maternal Hospital of the city of The Peace of the National Box of Health. Universe: One worked with the total of the universe, 105 pacientes whose vaginal childbirth was assisted in this hospital during the months of March to May of 2009. Instruments of gathering of data: History clinical perinatal. Result: Of the 105 women with vaginal childbirth was carried out episiotomy in 51 (49%) of the assisted patients. Without embargo, they register a total of 33 lacerations perennials, of which the biggest percentage is given in patient without episiotomy 32 (97%). Conclution: The use of the episiotomy is smaller in relation to reference studies; however the frequency of laceration perineal is bigger in women without episiotomy.
