Abstract The National Journal, considered the oldest one television news station, was the scene of many episodes that indicate a hegemonic role in the communication field television journalism. In this sense, the article aims to reconstruct the themes and approaches developed by the National Journal, on the main social and political events, since 1969, the year of its inauguration. This article resumes also the history of the National Journal, by systematizing a number of national studies, identifying speech consolidation of the issuer, in each socio-historical moment of significant national representation
