Abstract
URIONA GAMARRA, Katia. The challenges of depatriarchalisation in the political process in Bolivia. Tinkazos [online]. 2010, vol.13, n.28, pp.33-49. ISSN 1990-7451.
Through their organisations and movements, women in Bolivia have confirmed their status as political actors in the pre- and post-constitutional reform process. However, they did not manage to include their depatriarchalisation proposal in the new Constitution or obtain recognition of it in principle, although depatriarchalisation and decolonisation together could have become cornerstones of the process of change. This article reviews the achievements so far in changing the power relations that still subordinate, exclude and discriminate against women, and identifies the challenges ahead.
Keywords : women; depatriarchalisation; gender equity; womens rights; decolonisation; womens status; womens participation; political participation.
