Abstract

SANCHEZ SERRANO, Rolando. Social capital and its socio-economic and political effects. Tinkazos [online]. 2010, vol.13, suppl.1, pp.181-199. ISSN 1990-7451.

Cultural and social factors influence development and facilitate or hamper the generation of wealth. This article reviews the literature on the subject and shows how, particularly in Latin America, social capital emerges as one of the key factors if the values of Andean communities - such as reciprocity, solidarity and cooperation - are to be included in the fight against poverty.

Keywords : Social capital; social mobility; social development; poverty; solidarity; exclusion; globalization.
