Abstract
MARIC PALENQUE, María Lily and QUITON BARRIOS, Mónica. La influencia de la cultura en la motivación laboral. Revista de Psicologia [online]. 2009, n.5, pp.7-12. ISSN 2223-3032.
SUMMARY The authors evaluated which were the most frequent motivational factors among 150 candidates for management positions in La Paz city. The motivation scale of Fernandez Seara was used for this purpose. The results showed that the behavior of the sample is directed by the motivation for "affiliation". On the other hand, international scales show significantly differing results, which indicate that managers are directed in their behavior by the "achievement" motivation. This work concludes that the differences obtained are due to cultural factors, which are scarcely investigated in psychology of work and, hence, not used in business management. This work also concludes that the role of culture on the motivation of business managers can not be avoided since it influences the performance of the company and the country.
Keywords : culture; motivation; collective culture; individualist culture; managers.
