Abstract

In Bolivia, lupine (tarwi) along with otherAndean grains are considered as gold grains, whose production is based on the analysis, of technical efficiency, economic efficiency and sustainability. Production functions are based on the development of parametric methods, of factors and products to reach the best decisions, which at the same time, is influenced by the farmer's level of education. A research conducted in a community of northern Altiplano in Bolivia, shows that families produce lupine trying to minimize production costs. The objectives of this research were to estimate the influence of education, on the production function of lupine in the community: Markahilata. In order to achieve these goals, the methodology consisted in implementing 31 socio-economicsurveys undersimple random sampling for a finite population, through the application of Cobb - Douglas functions, by contrasting hypotheses about random perturbations, such as: non- normality, autocorrelation, heteroscedasticity and multicollinearity. The main results show that the factors: seed and labor, are in the second phase of production, while the surface and the equipment are used in the third production phase. The study of the influence of education shows that the levels of schooling 1 and 2 have positive effects on the surface and machinery, with negative effects on labor and seed. Markahilata community is a clear example of the situation in various communities that produce lupine, in the region of Bolivian Northern Altiplano, where some factors are used efficiently, while others need support for better production.
