Summary The situation of the main Chilean underground mines and their problems of contamination of underground acid waters associated with the operation is presented. It shows a sweep of the main existing technologies to decontaminate and / or enhance aqueous effluents, some of which have been applied in Chile. The work concludes with a discussion and analysis of the technologies with greater preponderance and use and that therefore have greater future impact in the treatment of acid mining waters.
