BERNAL-CASILLAS, José de Jesús et al. Environmental impacts from the exploitation of obsidian mines located in Jalisco, Mexico. REV. MAMYM [online]. 2021, vol.6, n.2, pp.41-53. ISSN 2519-5352.

ABSTRACT This paper reviews the operating conditions of an obsidian bench located in the town Las Navajas, Jalisco, Mexico. The main environmental impacts are the modification to landscape and damage to topography due to the operation of the machinery and vehicles. Positive impacts are mainly in the socioeconomic field: generation of jobs and other economic benefits. In addition, the study proposes mitigation actions for the slope stabilization and reforestation actions in affectation areas.
