The pandemic due to COVID-19 generated an abrupt change in education, given the change from face-to-face to virtual or distance education; it was a challenging situation for both students and teachers. The objective of this research was to identify the contributions of emotional intelligence in distance education. The methodology consisted of a systematic review of the academic literature, and the information managers Scopus, WOS and Scielo were consulted. First, the search was carried out with the descriptors emotional intelligence; distance education and pandemic; using the Boléan operators. It was concluded that, emotional intelligence contributed to appease the exhaustion of conducting remote classes, as well as strengthened resilient skills in situations that required them.
