Abstract

RAMIREZ, Fabiola Juana Zacatelco; GOMEZ, Saira Bernardita Osorio  and  FONSECA, Thamir Danir Durán. Natural semantic networks: Parents' concept of outstanding aptitude. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2023, vol.7, n.30, pp.1634-1648.  Epub July 24, 2023. ISSN 2616-7964.  https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v7i30.616.

Parents' conception of outstanding aptitude is of great relevance to provide adequate attention to their children. The objective of the study was to identify the concept that parents have about outstanding aptitude. Based on a non-experimental and cross-sectional descriptive study, 124 intentionally selected parents (M = 41.12 years, SD = 10.26) participated, who answered a booklet with four stimuli on the concept of outstanding aptitude. The technique of modified natural semantic networks was used. Fifteen words were identified in the cores with positive definers, related to cognitive abilities, without recognizing the socio-emotional aspect. It was concluded, on the one hand, on the importance of orienting parents and, on the other hand, on using the information for the design of instruments. A limitation was not having more heterogeneous samples to compare the evaluation of the concept by parents with different educational levels.
