Self-esteem, self-control and academic performance are important factors in the teaching and learning process and in the integral development of individuals. Therefore, the objective of this study is to relate the influence of self-esteem and self-control on the academic performance of university students majoring in English. A quantitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional correlational-causal analysis approach was used. A survey was applied to 120 students using a questionnaire as an instrument. It was found that the self-esteem of the students was mostly at a regular level with 43.3%, similar to personal, family, academic and social self-esteem with 41.7%, 43.3%, 44.2% and 45.0% respectively. It was concluded that the student's self-esteem and self-control significantly influence the student's academic performance.
