Abstract

JURADO, Janeth Paola Bolaños. Gamification as a tool for teaching and learning. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2023, vol.7, n.30, pp.1846-1853.  Epub July 24, 2023. ISSN 2616-7964.  https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v7i30.633.

It is convenient to focus on methodologies to improve the academic performance of students, and thus to increase motivation for learning. Therefore, the objective of the study was to analyze gamification as a technological tool in the academic performance of students using digital platforms. A quantitative methodology of descriptive type, non-experimental design was used; a survey was used as a technique, and a questionnaire with 10 questions under the Likert scale was used as an instrument. As a result, 71% of the parents surveyed strongly agreed that it is necessary to apply gamification as an alternative to improve student performance, while 27% agreed that it should be applied and 2% were indifferent. In conclusion, gamification as a technological tool has a positive impact on academic performance. There is a growing trend towards the integration of gamification in the educational environment, which demonstrates the importance of adopting innovative approaches adapted to the needs of students in their learning process.
