Abstract

Understanding the importance of the role of teachers and the leadership roles they play in society is crucial, since the quality of teachers is a decisive factor that significantly affects the teaching process. This article analyzes the approaches and theoretical approaches to university teachers' leadership. A systematic review was elaborated; the search was carried out in Scopus, Scielo, Redalyct and Google Scholar, considering terms such as "University Teaching Leadership", "University Management Model", the search results according to selection criteria were established in 7 articles, 5 published reviews, 2 university essays on university instructional leadership, and 1 book on the successful university experience in Peru. In conclusion, it is recognized that leadership is not limited to administration, but is also related to teaching, collaboration, service and ethics. University professors play a fundamental role in the formation of future leaders and in improving the quality of higher education.
