Abstract

CORONADO, Christian Raúl Linares; CAJO, Luz Emérita Cervera  and  QUINONES LI, Aura Elisa. Frequent speech acts in teaching discourse. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2023, vol.7, n.31, pp.2358-2366.  Epub Oct 16, 2023. ISSN 2616-7964.  https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v7i31.668.

Teacher discourse is a constant activity in teaching and learning. It is not possible to talk about teaching without a teacher's discourse that contains intentional messages for students' learning and counseling. Therefore, it is necessary to reflect on the vitality of speech acts in teachers' discourses and their importance in the assertiveness of the teacher's message. A phenomenological-hermeneutic design was used, with a qualitative approach. We worked with two students in the last year of secondary education and two teachers, using the interview technique and a guide of semi-structured questions as an instrument. The findings indicated that directive, assertive and expressive speech acts are relevant in the teachers' discourses, acts inherent to the teachers' discourse and for the sake of their assertiveness in the teaching and learning process. In conclusion, it was established that full knowledge of speech acts can contribute to the improvement of teachers' discourse, in terms of their assertiveness in the message, and in itself for effective or assertive communication.
