AREVALO, Dency Anadeli Díaz et al. The use of WhatsApp and collaborative work in the context of COVID-19. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2024, vol.8, n.32, pp.251-262.  Epub Jan 10, 2024. ISSN 2616-7964.  https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v8i32.720.

This study focuses on the application of WhatsApp as a crucial technological resource for cognitive development and collaborative work during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research, socio-educational and ethnographic in nature, aims to assess the usefulness of WhatsApp in collaborative work of students in different contexts. The sample comprises 2406 teachers from 611 educational institutions. During the 2020 school year, WhatsApp played a prominent role as an essential technological support in the educational process of schoolchildren. Documentary analysis, focusing on WhatsApp messages, was used as the main method. The results reveal that collaborative work stands out as a fundamental characteristic in the formative process, facilitating interactivity and synergy between teachers and students. The main conclusion is that, given the circumstances of remote learning and limited resources, WhatsApp became the optimal resource to foster collaborative work.
