BELTRAN, Alfonso Gutiérrez and CHUQUITAYPE, Luz Gloria Buiza. Addiction to the internet and social networks in elementary, secondary and higher school students. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2024, vol.8, n.32, pp.449-463. Epub Jan 10, 2024. ISSN 2616-7964. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v8i32.736.
Access to the Internet and social networks has increased in the last decades in the educational field. The objective was to analyze the risk factors and consequences of addiction to the internet and social networks in primary, secondary and higher education students. The methodology used was to conduct an analytical, qualitative and quantitative study of scientific research conducted in Latin America and Peru between the years 2017 to 2022, indexed to the EBSCO, Scopus, and Scielo databases, and in the specialized academic Google search engine selecting 38 articles in 70 days, in two languages. The systematic review demonstrates the excessive use of the Internet and social networks in students of public institutions, concluding that there is a significant number of research on Internet addiction and social networks; also finding controversial results, data that should be considered in future research to promote preventive actions against these addictions.
