Abstract

ICTs promote the training of students and teachers, motivate the development of skills, and with it, their critical thinking. The objective of the study was to determine the effect of ICT on the development of critical thinking in students of the Alternative Basic Education Center, in Juliaca, Peru. Basic research with a qualitative approach of phenomenological analysis; the categories used were ICT and critical thinking; six subcategories: computer science, telecommunication, virtual environment, interpretation, analysis and self-regulation. A semi-structured survey and an observation form were applied to teachers and students. Triangulation of qualitative evidence was used. The findings revealed that the use and employment of ICT was diverse among teachers and students, indispensable for students' cognitive development. ICT would contribute to the development of skills, meaningful learning, foster digital competencies, decision making, collaboration among its members, analysis and self-regulation, and consequently, critical thinking.
