Abstract

BARRIOS, Carlos Alberto Mongelós et al. Productive behavior of elephant grass (Cenchrus purpureus) with the application of dose of nitrogen. Rev. Inv. Cs. Agro. y Vet. [online]. 2024, vol.8, n.22, pp.59-68.  Epub Jan 20, 2024. ISSN 2664-0902.  https://doi.org/10.33996/revistaalfa.v8i22.248.

Among the benefits of fertilizing forages is an increase in nitrogen content, digestibility, plant height, density, leaf-to-stem ratio and greater biomass production. The objective of the work was to evaluate the productive behavior of Elephant grass (Cenchrus purpureus) with the application of nitrogen doses. It was carried out in the district of Belén, Department of Concepción, between the months of March and May 2022. The experimental design used was complete random blocks, arranged in a factorial scheme (2x5), factor A corresponded to cultivars. of elephant grass (purple and green), and factor B the application of nitrogen doses (0, 30, 60, 90 and 120 kg. ha-1), with three repetitions. Plant height, number of leaves, MV and MS were evaluated. The values were subjected to an analysis of variance using the F Test and the means were compared with each other using the Tukey Test at 5%. Elephant grass cultivars influenced plant height determinations at 90 and 120 days after emergence. The doses of nitrogen fertilizer had positive effects in all the determinations evaluated, better response with 60 kg. ha-1 of N, the determination of the number of leaves obtained better results with the dose of 90 kg. ha-1 of N. There was an interaction of the factors in plant height determinations at 90 and 120 days after emergence, the best combination was to cultivate purple elephant grass and the dose of 60 kg. ha-1 N.
