Environmental problems, pollution, deforestation and climate change, threaten life and the future of the planet. The objective of this research was to determine the perception of the local population about reforestation in relation to cultural practices, the use of resources and participation in environmental programs in the upper circumlacustrine area of Puno, Peru. The research was developed under a cross-sectional observational design, with non-probabilistic sampling, a questionnaire was applied as an instrument to 281 residents. Positive criteria were obtained regarding the use of water sources for irrigation, types of fertilizer, pruning and fumigation, before and after the experiment (15.8%-37.3%; 52.5%-39.0%; 31.7%-23.7% ) for the scales always, sometimes and never, respectively; In the same way, cultural tasks and the environment in which plants develop are perceived (18.6%-49.1%; 57.7%-35.2%; 23.8%-15.8%); There is an increase in participation in government activities, institutions and projects, which indicates the degree of acceptance with the reforestation program and care for the environment.
