RESEARCH QUESTION Is smoking in medical students related to age and gender? OBJETIVE To establish the prevalence of smoking in medical students by age and gender, its characteristics, and related family and social factors. RESEARCH DESIGN Cross sectional, descriptive and correlational research METHOD Self-administered inquiry RESULTS Half of the students smoke, but the prevalence is 50% higher in male than in female students.
