Abstract

DE URIOSTE, Mary Cruz. Gender Statistics Universities of Santa Cruz. Rev. aportes de la comunicación [online]. 2016, n.20, pp.40-46. ISSN 2306-8671.

Abstract The construction of gender identities permeates all areas of society and is also reflected in academic life. This article aims to show gender differences in universities in Santa Cruz. To achieve this purpose, statistical indicators were utilized from all the universities that compose the gender observatory. These were divided by gender into three categories of academic life: Undergraduate students, faculty and authorities. The results show that differences persist even today to the detriment of women in hierarchical structures and at the faculty level. However, a trend towards the feminization of undergraduate enrollment is observed. Visualizing this information is relevant to the extent in which it is used to propose policies and programs favoring equity, key actions and effective institutional policies that contribute to the transformation of fairer and more equitable relationships between both sexes.
