Abstract

CUEVAS RODRIGUEZ, Enrique.   Monetary returns of schooling. Marginalization and educational inequality analysis for México. Revista de coyuntura y perspectiva [online]. 2016, vol.1, n.3, pp.32-72. ISSN 2415-0622.

Abstract: This paper provides an estimate of the rate of return of education in Mexico, both nationally and by region according to degree of marginalization is made. The results showed that the returns to education are lower in regions of less poverty, which can be explained by several reasons, such as than the quality skilled labor in the states or regions low development, is relatively minor compared to high development regions. This shortage of skilled labor will result in higher returns to human capital. The result then is that these high rates of return are indicative of the low salary and education levels, so that an government intervention is needed to generate redistributive effects of social spending on education.

Keywords : Returns to education; educational inequality; Mincer equation; poverty and marginalization in Mexico.
