Abstract
DURAN AYOROA, Tatiana Z.. RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN GDP, ELECTRICITY AND THE SHADOW ECONOMY IN BOLIVIA. Inv. y Des. [online]. 2021, vol.21, n.2, pp.19-30. Epub Dec 30, 2021. ISSN 2518-4431. https://doi.org/10.23881/idupbo.021.2-2e.
This document will estimate the dimension of part of the unregistered or Shadow economy in Bolivia that is related with the coca leaf crops. The analysis is based on data for electricity demand, GDP and coca leaf production extracted from UNODC[1] , BID [2] y EIA[3], respectively. The model is based on the existence of a direct relationship between economic activity and electricity demand. Economic activity has two variables, the formal economy that is quantified by the GDP of a country and the unregistered or shadow economy that is not directly quantifiable. Thus, this work quantifies part of the unregistered economy that is related to the coca leaf production.
