Abstract

CENTURION LARREA, Angel Johel. Student perceptions of communication for development in a Peruvian university academic unit. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2024, vol.8, n.33, pp.708-716.  Epub Apr 02, 2024. ISSN 2616-7964.  https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v8i33.754.

This study analyzes student perceptions of communication for development in a university academic unit in Peru. A qualitative approach was used, focusing on three categories: communication for economic development and communication for social and human development. Information was collected through semi-structured, in-depth interviews with four university students, complemented by a literature review. The findings indicate that students recognize the formal adoption of the communication for development approach by the institution, although no directly related activities are evident. However, isolated efforts of some subjects and extracurricular activities to promote it are identified. These results underscore the importance of strengthening and integrating communication for development more systematically in all academic areas.
