Abstract

COVID-19 has affected in different ways depending on each person, bringing sadness, anguish, worry. This study sought to assess the level of anxiety about the risk of COVID-19 infection in patients attending hospitals in the Andean region in 2020. Under a quantitative approach and descriptive, cross-sectional and prospective design, the STAI questionnaire for the levels of trait-state anxiety was applied to a sample of 244 patients identified intentionally. Among the results, 45.1% had high anxiety levels, 41.4% had medium anxiety levels, while 13.5% had low anxiety levels. It was concluded that almost half of the patients who attended a hospital in the Andean region had high levels of anxiety due to the risk of COVID-19 infection in the year 2020.
