PILALOA DAVID, Wilmer; PEREZ VACA, Dora; ALVARADO AGUAYO, Allan  y  TORRES SANCHEZ, SInthya. Agroecological management of Moniliasis in cocoa (Theobroma cacao) using biofungicides and phytosanitary pruning in the La Troncal canton. Rev. Inv. Cs. Agro. y Vet. [online]. 2021, vol.5, n.15, pp.70-85. ISSN 2664-0902.  https://doi.org/10.33996/revistaalfa.v5i15.129.

Moniliophthora roreri is the cause of great economic losses in the Ecuadorian cocoa sector. The pruning of branches and the use of biofungicides are considered by farmers as a control method, however, their effectiveness when combined is unknown. Thus, the present investigation determined the best way to control moniliasis through 4 treatments in the province of Cañar; T1: Bacillus sp + pruning; T2: Trichoderma sp + pruning; T3: Mancozeb; T4: Control with only pruning. In spite of the differences that were shown for the variables incidence, number of flowers and healthy cucumbers among the treatments, it is corroborated that the application of any type of fungicide diminishes the damage caused by the fungus and that pruning alone is the least efficient. However, the economic analysis showed that T1 Bacillus sp + pruning was the most profitable with a benefit-cost ratio of 1.29 dollars with an application of 1.5 l ha-1.
