Leishmaniasis is a zoonosis caused by parasites of the genus Leishmania. This work aims to determine the epidemiological characteristics of Leishmaniasis in the Cochabamba Department during the period from 2002 to 2010. It is a retrospective observational, descriptive, longitudinal study. The universe of study was represented by 1452 cases. The source of data is through the epidemiological clinical file of the patients, used the Microsoft Excel program for data processing and the statistical package SPSS 19, as a summary measure employed the percentage. The results show that in 2003 the incidence was increased from 17 per 100000 habitants which corresponds to 17.6%; of the whole data the age groups most affected were aged between 21 and 30 24,05%; the male was the most affected, 80.7%t; the place most likely contagión, Chapare presented greater number of cases with 65.3% (915 cases); in the clinical form of leishmaniasis the commonest is the cutaneous form with 78.9%. In conclusión the highest incidence rates has taken place in the year 2003, the average age of the patients is of 30 years, the male was most affected by more than 80% and the cutaneous form was the most common clinical form.
