During the health crisis, the students of the Early Childhood Education program developed the subjects through the virtual and distance modality, in which many difficulties arose that had repercussions on the emotional aspect generated by stress. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and stress. It had a quantitative approach and a non-experimental design. The population was 426 students, and the stratified sampling was 170; two questionnaires were applied, the ICE BarOn 130-question and 96-question stress inventories. The results were that, emotional management is related to stress, according to the hypothesis test, X_C^2=45.340>X_t^2=26.3; where the alternate hypothesis is accepted. In conclusion, students have good emotional management in intrapersonal and interpersonal, and in terms of adaptability, mood and stress management attention is needed for the prevention of mental health.
