It is estimated that one out of every four individuals suffers from some serious stress problem in large cities, which causes some mental health problem present in all environments and settings, including the educational environment. Therefore, incoming students face greater academic demands and changes in their social life, constituting a source of stress. The objective of the study is to evaluate the level of academic stress of students entering the Professional Nursing Career. This is a descriptive, cross-sectional, prospective and non-experimental design research. The population consisted of all students entering the Professional Nursing Career at the National Amazonian University of Madre de Dios [UNAMAD] during the period 2019 - II, making a total of 60 elements. The results obtained were that more than half of the students analyzed manifested high stress. Finally, it is concluded that the changes regarding social experiences and academic demands of the higher level with respect to the secondary level trigger emotional changes that lead to academic stress, as shown in the results where most of the students entering the Professional Nursing Career expressed high stress. Academic stress was evidenced in the dimensions lifestyle, environment, symptoms, employment, relationships, and personality, in more than half of the students entering the Professional School of Nursing who expressed high stress.
