Background. Health care personnel represent one of the groups with the highest risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection in this pandemic, consequently knowing the characteristics of such infection in this group of people is relevant. Objective. To know the main characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 infection in health care personnel at the Ovidio Aliaga Uría Children's Hospital. Methods: a cross-sectional study. Participants. All health care personnel infected with SARS-CoV-2. Main measurements. Variables such as age, sex, work function, signs and symptoms, diagnosis, existing comorbidities, progress of the disease, and intra- or extra-hospital SARS-CoV-2 contact tracing were analyzed. Results. Of the total of 612 health workers in this Hospital, 207 people were SARS-CoV-2 infected (33.8%.). Accordingly, 24 % of the physicians, 53 % of the resident doctors, 36 % of the nursing staff, and 37 % of the administrative staff were affected. A 35 % were asymptomatic and 65% symptomatic, with myalgia/ arthralgia and headache in 46 % of the symptomatic ones, moreover, respiratory symptoms including cough which was the most frequent 33 %, temperature rises 18 %, anosmia and gastrointestinal manifestations 3 %. Conclusion. It was determined that the prevalence of COVID-19 cases in health care personnel at Ovidio Aliaga Uria Children's Hospital between March and November 2020 was 33.8 %; of these 78 % were female and 22 % male. 4 deaths were registered.
