ABSTRACT: On 10 December 2008, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. Among its main outstanding contributions, it is worth mentioning the introduction of a new procedurefor individual orgroups of individual complains against alleged violations of economic, social and cultural rights.This Protocol is particularly interesting for countries such as Bolivia, a country that with a great effort has passed during the last years important institutional, political and legal reforms in order to alleviate the deep economical, social and cultural backward state of live for an important part of its citizens.
