DAVILA NAVARRO, Edgar  e  PORTUGAL, Rigliana. Media competitions for girls and young women in the city of La Paz - Bolivia, to identify violence through your access to television and smartphones. Punto Cero [online]. 2020, vol.25, n.40, pp.35-43. ISSN 1815-0276.

The aim of the study is to identify the access, use and critical comprehension of violent messages on television and smartphones, made by girls from 10 to 14 years old and young women from 20 to 29 years old, during August 2018, in two areas of the La Paz city: Max Paredes and Periférica. The methodological approach of the research is quantitative, with a descriptive and comparative design, which applies a survey through a questionnaire administered to 403 women (272 young people and 131 girls). The research concludes that 6 out of 10 girls and 5 out of 10 young people access and use television between 2 to more than 3 hours. In the case of smartphones, this access and use goes up to 6 out of 10 girls and to 7 out of 10 young people. Both study groups consider that these media distract them (5 out of 10 girls and young people). 67.2% girls and 59.8% young people link violence to a set of actions that cause physical harm. At the level of critical comprehension, girls identify physical violence as the most frequent on television (49.6%); while young women consider sexual violence as the most recurrent (43.5%).
