AVILES, María. Antiparasitary activity assessment from 4 vegetable species extracts "chagasin" in trypanosoma cruzi (triatomas infestans) and its phytotherapy action in chagasic guinea pigs. Rev. Cien. Tec. In. [online]. 2017, vol.15, n.16, pp.949-960. ISSN 2225-8787.

Abstract The aim of the present study on its first stage was to assess the anti-parasitic activity of four plant extracts on Trypanosomacruziand isolated from Triatomainfestants and its phytotherapeutic action in chagasic guinea pigs. In the first phase the study was developed according to the specific objectives set. The methodology used was based on: 1 .Obtaining plant extracts by percolation after a treatment of selection and disinfection of the species under study: Jamillo, Carqueja, Canchagula, which previous obtained of the extract at different concentration were put on preserved trypanosomes in a physiological isotonic solution at 28 +- 4°C. The results for Jamillo showed greater antiparasitic effects in relation to the other plant species. The parasites seen under microscope had a post-mortuary immobility of 50 % at 8 hours, 90 % at 16 and 99 % at 12. The variables under study were concentration of the extracts and time of exposure of the trypomastigote in the different preliminary dilutions of the semisolid extracts prepared at 0.4, 0.8 and 1.6 %. The data obtained was expressed as a mean +-standard deviation and the comparisons between the experimental groups were performed by one-way ANOVA followed by a post hoc Scheffé test using the SPSS 11.5 software. The means were considered significantly different when p<0.05. The following results were obtained according to the data analysis and treatment submitted to ANOVA. For all cases, there is a significant effect: probability less than 0.05, so there are significant differences among the treatments applied. Therefore, it can be concluded that the extracts of the species used: Schkuhria pinnata (Canchalagua), Baccharis articulata (Carqueja), Miroxylum periferium (Quina Colorada) and Viscum álbum L. (Jamillo), showed trypanocidal activity in minor and greater degree according to the different concentrations used in the lab experiments. The same was observed in the biological test of chagasic guinea pigs, wormed whit CHAGASIN 1 (extract of Jamillo stabilized with extract of carqueja). It showed greater antiparasitic activity than CHAGASIN 2 (extract of Jamillo stabilized with canchagula).
