Abstract Blood samples of 9 condors (Vultur gryphus) in captivity clinically healthy, the Municipal Zoo Vesty Pakos La Paz Bolivia were evaluated in order to obtain baseline hematologic, serum chemistry and make the corresponding morphological and morphometric description of the different types blood cell. The variables for CBC were: Red Blood Cell Count (RBC); hematocrit (Ht); Hemoglobin (Hb); Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCB); Mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH); Mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC); reticulocytes (Retic); immature cells (IC), platelets (PLT) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR). The differential leukocyte count was: Heterophil (HET), lymphocytes (Lym), eosinophils (Eo), basophils (Bas), and monocytes (Mo). No blood parasites were observed in smears examined. Analysis of serum chemistry included: Urea, Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN), creatinine (Creat), aspartate aminotransferase (AST-GOT), alanine aminotransferase (ALT-GPT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), albumin (AL), total protein (TP), glycemia (Gly) and bilirubin (TB, IB and DB). The values are presented as mean, standard deviation, coefficient of variation and minimum and maximum ranges. The morphology of blood cells were similar to other poultry, large nucleated erythrocytes, lymphocytes and heterophils were the most abundant leukocyte. The parameters presented provide a useful reference in veterinary practice as an indispensable tool that provides at the time of confirming a diagnosis.
