Abstract This document analyzes the illicit behavior called extortion in the town of Quibdó, Colombia, and its incidence in the territorial peace during the period 2018-2022. The investigation used a socio-judicial methodology in virtue of which the paper is divided into for parts: the first one, explains the crime of extortion based on the criminal system in Colombia; the second one, studies some official statistics about extortion in the municipality of Quibdó; the third part, utilizes that information to interpret the relation between that crime with the territorial peace. The final part includes the main conclusions of the investigation
