MENDOZA LIPA, Juan Ruben. Excessive use of internet social networks and academic performance on UMSA psychology students of the fourth year.. Edu. Sup. Rev. Cient. Cepies [online]. 2018, vol.5, n.2, pp.57-70. ISSN 2518-8283.
Abstract This research was carried out, aiming to establish the relationship between the excessive use of internet social networks and academic performance of senior psychology students of the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés. Taking into account age and gender the research tools used were the Social Network Addiction questionnaire and grade records that assess students' academic performance. According to the statistical result obtained and based on the Pearson correlation coefficient it could be concluded that among the variables, internet social networks and academic performance there is a weak negative relationship. It could be concluded that there is no statistical significance relationship between the students dedication of time on social networks and their academic performance. But it is observed that a mild addiction could become a factor that compromises students' development in the university. In this way it is expected that professors can talk with students about the correct use of social networks.
