Poverty afflicts the world's population and is given by the lack of income, access to basic services that cause low life expectancy, prone to social exclusion, discrimination, hence it follows that poverty has detrimental impact on human welfare, its eradication was one of the objectives and goals of sustainable development (ODS) of the UN. Under this need arises this study in order to analyze the dynamics used by farmers to obtain income and support their families, where many must cope with the climatic effects of being located in risk areas for this, it is required to know their reality, to put on the agenda the existing problems. A cross-sectional observational documentary design was used for the analysis, using data from the INNEI in Peru as a source, with family farming in Peru as the main category of analysis, the analysis matrix was used as an instrument and source analysis as a technique. As a result, it was obtained that family farming is a means to provide various areas of the country with healthy food that favors the development of the inhabitants, however, these families that farm the land are not valued or well considered in their actions despite the fact that they are part of the State's economic growth, which makes it impossible to meet the SDGs, so it is considered necessary that families receive support to prevent them from abandoning family farming. It was concluded that new strategies within the framework of family farming are of great interest to reduce poverty; therefore, the government's commitment is required to provide them with all the necessary support and assistance, considering that they will allow achieving sustainable development in Peru.
