University education seeks to respond to challenges in society. It is possible to rethink how one teach and learn. This article presents the results of the study of perception and assessment of fourth-year university teachers on methodological strategies to develop social competencies in the classroom in the Social Commu- nication Career of Major University of San Andrés when there is stress, boredom, anxiety, few interpersonal relationships, lack of communication and tolerance in the work that students do in the classroom. The topic arises from teaching experience and conversation with other teachers. The objective is to know the teachers’ per- ceptions and evaluations of methodological strategies and social competencies to create a positive classroom environment in the teaching-learning process for the students. The research subjects were 30 fourth-year university teachers nominated in the 2023 schedules, the sample by the researcher’s judgment. The method was developed with a Likert-type survey, five response alternatives, quantitative, des- criptive, non-experimental approach, the baremo method was applied to know the perceptions and evaluations of high, medium, and low. The results revealed high perceptions and evaluations: 87% preferred stories/parables, 87% group dynamics, 85% action research, 82% project method, 78% films/videos, and 75% educational games. It is concluded that methodological strategies facilitate group learning, im- prove classroom experiences, and increase participation. Likewise, it is highlighted that it is possible to develop social skills, interpersonal relationships, responsibility, self-esteem, mutual help, interaction, coexistence and participatory methodologies for quality universitary education.
