GAMBOA ALBA, Shirley. Rethinking university teaching in the digital era from the role of universities as promoters of educational innovation. Edu. Sup. Rev. Cient. Cepies [online]. 2024, vol.11, n.1, pp.93-106. ISSN 2518-8283. https://doi.org/10.53287/jwgk7255ip16y.
The purpose of this article is to analyze the role of universities in the transformation of university teaching in the digital era, as promoters of educational innovation. Although technology was already part of educational systems, since the pandemic decreed by Covid-19, universities were forced to paralyze in-person work, migrating almost immediately to virtuality to continue with their training tasks. Universities, faced with this panorama, saw the need to implement policies aimed at strengthening technological equipment on the one hand and teacher training courses in the use of technological tools, on the other hand. However, these actions have not been enough, since, after the pandemic and back to normality, apparently, very little has changed, the face-to-face classes, for the most part, continue to be highly expository and the technological tools are still being used as a simple resource for the transmission of information and as a means of support for the activity carried out by the teacher to advance the programmed content. Given this reality, in this article, the need to rethink university teaching is raised based on the analysis of the role of the University as a promoter of educational innovation, considering that, in the digital era, the mere incorporation of technologies is not enough to achieve a true transformation in the teaching-learning processes.
